How it works for Sellers
People Shop offers Sellers a way to advertise themselves to prospective Customers.
And it's free to everyone at the moment.
Sellers are people who want to earn money by selling their skill, time or service to Customers.
Sellers may be students, retired people, professional people or a local business.
You need to register to become a Seller and there are two types of Seller – those with a basic
listing and People Shop members.
Registering
When you register, you will be asked to enter your skills, rates, profile and availability for work.
This information will be entered into our skills database and calendar system so when a Customer inputs
their requirements, the system will search for the closest match. You can see the range of services
here.
Selection
Customers can select up to three Sellers for a job. If you are selected you will be contacted via
text message to tell you that a job is available. You will need to log on to your People Shop account
and will have two hours to either accept or reject the job.
If you do not accept or decline the job within two hours, a message will be sent out to the next
Sellers on the list. If you missed the two hour deadline, it's still worth trying to accept the job
as the system then reverts to a first-come-first-served basis.
Once you accept the job you and the Customer will be notified of each others' contact details so you
can discuss the job and payment.
Satisfaction
Once a job is complete, the Customer will be asked to offer feedback on your work. It is in your
interest to offer a quality service as the better the customer feedback rating, the more work you are
likely to attract as nothing is more effective than positive recommendations. If a Customer doesn't
complete and return this within 48hrs you will automatically be awarded a positive satisfaction
rating.
Payment
It is up to you to agree with the Customer how final payment should be made. You may prefer cash or
cheque or you may be happy for the Customer to pay you via your PayPal account. Once you have
completed a job People Shop will take a nominal booking fee to cover our administrative costs. You
can review our current charges here.
It's that simple. No catches, no gimmicks.
