When you register with People Shop we ask you for details about yourself because we want to ensure that we give you a service that's tailored for you. What information do we collect from you as a user of Customer of People Shop

Registration

If you register with us, we ask you for a small amount of information. We do this so you're your searches will be relevant to you and so that when you return to People Shop, we can instantly recognise you and give you access to our services. Details we collect may include:

  • forename and surname;
  • mobile number
  • residence address
  • email address.

During your session as a registered user we use a cookie to store an encoded version of your user ID so that you can access your address book.

Booking

When you place a booking on People Shop we need to know a little bit more about you than we first collected when you registered. This enables us to process and fulfill your booking, or contact you in case of a query. Additional details we may collect include:

  • company name (if appropriate);
  • payment details;

What information do we collect from you as an Associate of People Shop?

Registration

Registering your details is compulsory for associates and enables us to provide an effective service. We only collect the minimum information required to identify you and to ensure that we provide you with appropriate information. Details we collect may include:

  • forename and surname;
  • address;
  • telephone number;
  • payment details;
  • email address.

Information Retention

We commit to retain your information only for as long as is reasonably necessary for the purpose that you consented to and/or paid the relevant Membership Fees.

Why do you need my email address?

We need your email address to give you security. As a registered user, you have to enter a password to access your account no one else can access it and if you forget your password, we can email it to you. We also use your email address to confirm your booking details to you.

We might also use the information you've given us to bring you important news such as functionality changes to the People Shop site or new services and special offers you might find valuable. This is only sent to users who have chosen to opt in when registering, and each time we email you, you can choose not to be sent any further messages from us. We'll also guarantee not to "spam" you with annoying, irrelevant emails.

Stored information

Do you store information on my browsing activity, and can I be identified from it?

During your session on Peopleshop.co.uk we will store the location you have requested. This information is only retained while you are in session and will not be kept once you have left Peopleshop.co.uk. We also collect anonymous information on your activity while logged into Peopleshop.co.uk such as:

  • IP address;

  • access times;
  • referring URL.

There's no way you can be identified as a result of your browsing activity on Peopleshop.co.uk.

Is my information secure?

Can anybody else who's using People Shop access my personal details without my consent?

No. All personal information given to People Shop is secured and stored away from public access. When a booking is completed certain information is passed between the customer and the associate in order to ensure that the customer is able to receive the benefit of the service they have booked. This requires the exchange of names, addresses and phone numbers between the customer and the associate and the consent of both individuals will be specifically obtain during the booking process, without this consent no third party will have access to your personal details.

Is my information available to any companies who partner with People Shop to provide products or services?

No, People Shop will not disclose any of your information unless explicit permission is granted by you.

User access

Can I access my personal information at any time?

Yes. If you want to look at or update your information, you can access all the details you provided us with when you registered. You can change or delete anything at any time.

Under the Data Protection Act 1998, you're also entitled to view any information we hold on you by paying a fee. Accordingly People Shop is happy to provide, on request from You supported by proof of identity, a copy of any data held by People Shop on You. For this service People Shop reserves the right to charge an amount to cover reasonable administrative costs, the level of which shall be communicated to You for your acceptance prior to issuing the requested information.

If any information held is inaccurate, we'll make the necessary changes and contact you with confirmation.

Can I correct or change any details I've given to you?

Yes. You can make changes to any of the information you gave us when you registered. Just access your account and change your details as required.
